Breakfast in Moxy Birmingham NEC

I absolutely love the quirkiness of this hotel. It was so clean, and fantastic location to the NEC. 90% of the staff I met couldn't do enough to help you and was super friendly.

Breakfast in Moxy Birmingham NEC

I booked this hotel because I was going to see Falling in Reverse at the Arena (which is a 2 minute walk away, I could see it from my hotel room!) [Unfortunately, as some of you might know the concert got cancelled but as the room was already paid for (and train tickets), I went.] I'm not familiar with this area of Birmingham, so I actually walked the wrong way from the train station the first time. But after a bit of wandering around the hotel was easy to spot, it's really close to Birmingham International. I really liked the vibe of the place, when I arrived loads of people were sitting near the entrance working and chatting. The lady who checked me in was lovely and told me I had a free drink to use whenever I was ready. (I ended up getting a mocha.) The room was a generous size for a solo traveller like me, the bed was comfy, and I really appreciated that I could open the window. I couldn't make the TV work but that wasn't really an issue as I had my laptop with me. Shower had decent pressure; I'm a bath person but it was refreshing to shower for a change. I'm a shy loner AND a picky vegetarian but I ventured down for breakfast. I had fruits, beans, some pastries, and hash browns. I believe I could have requested veggie sausages but once again, I'm shy. Stayed downstairs for a bit, watched people coming and going, had a coffee. Thursday morning was quiet, but Friday was busy. All in all, I enjoyed my stay, the floor I was on was really quiet, didn't hear anything!

Lobby or reception in Moxy Birmingham NEC

We stayed as a family of 4, 2 boys aged 8 and 13. Room 202 was really spacious with seperate lounge area with sofa bed made up on arrival. Facilities in the room where great, TV in each room, coffee pods, teas, ironing room up the corridor. Great location for an event at BP live or NEC, parking was easy at £12.00 overnight (make sure reception validate your token). Breakfast is by far the best I've had at any hotel, loads of choice, jams, pastries, meat, cheese, fruits, yogurts, about 15 cereals, jams, spreads, full English, even overnight oats. Check in/out super easy. Rooms have aircon and heating, very clean. Staff lovely and friendly. Would definitely rec3and stay again.

Lounge or bar in Moxy Birmingham NEC

The location of the hotel is directly opposite the entrance to the NEC, so perfect if visiting there. The staff were all really friendly, and actually seemed to be enjoying their jobs (quite rare nowadays!). The room we had was on the 6th floor and clean, well decorated and comfortable. There was no wardrobe, but enough hanging space on the funky exposed rail. Bathroom was small but with a big shower and very clean. It was quiet at night, but I think being on a high floor probably contributed to that. This is clearly a brand that is trying to liven up the hotel experience and it is working, from the funky neon lighting, and with little touches like the low level lighting that comes on below the bed when you get up in the middle of the night for the loo being quite innovative. The bar was lively in the evening, with a nice atmosphere and plenty of seating. The stand out for me though, was the breakfast. We paid £12 upon check-in and were not disappointed. I think it is the biggest selection of options for breakfast I have ever come across in a UK hotel, from cooked, to continental, to overnight oats, smoothies, yoghurt and everything in between. It's worth bearing in mind there is no parking at the hotel itself, but this is the same for all NEC hotels.

View (from property/room) in Moxy Birmingham NEC

Location was excellent for the event I attended at the NEC, both for the NEC, somewhere to eat outside the hotel (although food was available) The complimentary cocktail on check in was a pleasant surprise and very welcome. It was very quiet in my room despite an event being on at the NEC in the evening and I slept very well as a result.. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty of choice. The staff were helpful, polite, knowledgeable and the lady who helped me in the car park on Thursday lunchtime who was obviously off duty was a superstar. Many thanks to her indeed! If I am need of a room around the NEC in the future, Moxy will top my list of preferences.

Restaurant/places to eat in Moxy Birmingham NEC

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, especially for anyone visiting the NEC, Resorts World, or travelling via Birmingham Airport. The modern and trendy aesthetic throughout the hotel was very appealing, and the spacious bar/lounge area was a great spot to work from, with decent free Wi-Fi. It was a relief to find the room itself was clean, which is always a top priority. The air conditioning in the room was a welcome touch, and we were lucky to have a fantastic view of the lake. The service allowing us to drop off our bags before check-in was also much appreciated.

The room, facilities and service were brilliant. Many of the staff behind the bar were also exceptional and i cannot commend them enough for their warm, friendly and helpful attitudes and behaviour. The coffee was also fantastic as was the food. The cleaners too also did a great job in the room and were also very helpful and caring towards my outfits/ suits and such.

Lobby or reception in Moxy Birmingham NEC

The Moxy Birmingham NEC is in a brilliant location. It is directly opposite the front doors to the NEC and is a slow, 3 minute walk from the BP Pulse Live. We travelled by train and it is at most a 10 minute walk (mostly indoors) from the station. I think it would also be the ideal accommodation for staying at the airport or even for a Birmingham city break. It's by a lake and has outdoor seating so you can feel at one with nature (swans and geese). Inside there is a funky bar area and stylish seating to hang out in and feel cool. We had a free drink in the bar and felt cool. Our bedroom was very clean and comfy, and looked really swanky. The shower room was compact but did everything you need it to do (there is conditioner included in the shower, wowsers!). There's a kettle, tea, coffee etc and biscuits and water. The beds were super comfy, with the duvets cosily tucked in. The pillows are ginormous. Breakfast was super tasty, seemingly unlimited (it can't possibly really be unlimited) with a wide variety of food and drinks: I went healthy with meat, cheese, fruit, yoghurt and granola. My son went decadent with waffles and a donut. We both had a full English! What else? The staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel was clean and quiet. The sun was shining. I don't think Moxy influenced the weather.

It was so simple but absolutely refreshing. The little touches everywhere … Moxy think of everyone. I had a young child, a teenager and my elderly mum with me and everyone absolutely loved the hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, relaxed and friendly. The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had in the UK.
